2006 Egg Spinning Champ Named

Posted by Picasa 2006 Shelsby Easter Celebration was held this year at Rick & Karen’s in Ellicott City. It was a beautiful day and we had a good turnout. To see photos of all the day’s events, go to: http://www.photoshow.net/mshelsby/favorites

Competition was fierce at the annual egg-spinning contest, perhaps because there was a lapse of three years since the last contest. Of course, the intensity may have been a result of Rick posting odds for all the competitors and allowing betting.

Unique to this year’s event was three Gils making it to the finals. The youngest of the Gils used a little hot air (guess he, too, will be an attorney!) to try to keep his egg spinning but it didn’t work. Big Gil, also known as Gil Sr., took top prize this year with middle Gil finishing second!

First Day of Spring

It is rare in Rochester to see the first day of spring without whiteout conditions, so the local news crews were out doing stories and ended up at our front door. Here is a news clip of my five minutes of fame. (It was actually more like 5 seconds of fame) If it doesn't work, try this link http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZfiF1S6YoOA

Our New Home!

Posted by Picasa It is hard to believe that we've lived in our new home a quarter of a year already. We are settling in pretty good and the stack of boxes is down considerably! We've still not hung pictures or done much in the way of decorating. A couple of times a month we head out to buy area rugs but have yet to find anything we can agree on. (Personally, I believe they should provide marriage counseling stations at any retail outlet that carries household goods with a price tag over $1,000!)

Our home is located in the city of Rochester. We are convenient to everything, especially restaurants, which is handy since I don't cook anymore! Less than a block east is Rochester's Highland Park, site of our world famous Lilac Festival. This year's event is scheduled for May 12-22. I've been trying to upload some photos of the park but it's not working. Below are several photos of the park taken at last year's festival.

Dianne is a Bride in North Carolina

Dianne Shelsby married her long time best friend, Ray Cowick in a beautiful ceremony at Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. Jim and Mary were witnesses. It was a beautiful sunny day in North Carolina and following the ceremony, everyone went to Greensboro for a great seafood dinner and some sightseeing.

If you'd like to congratulate the newlyweds, their address is P.O. Box 1713, Pilot Mt, NC 27041.
